Update from Incident Manager of South East Water

Good morning,

Please see an update on the water supply situation in the local area.

Due to temperatures soaring across our region in recent days and the prolonged dry weather we’ve experienced for the last 6 weeks we’re having to pump much more drinking water to customer taps than normal.

This, coupled with not seeing any significant rainfall since the end of April has put significant pressure on our ability treat, pump and supply water to our customers.

Whilst we have gained some storage of water in the local area overnight, unfortunately we do not believe that the amount of water available locally will be enough to meet all customer demand throughout the day. The local area is supplied by a drinking water storage tank at Cottage Hill, and overnight we have been unable to refill the tank to satisfactory levels.

As a result the bottled water stations that were open yesterday until 2100 will reopen this morning. These can be found at:

  • Mayfield Memorial Hall, Court Meadow, Tunbridge Wells Rd, Mayfield TN20 6PJ
  • Rotherfield Village Hall, North St, Rotherfield, Crowborough TN6 3LX

Additionally, bottled water is available at an unmanned site at Sparrows Green Recreation Ground, South View Road, Wadhurst, TN5 6TW.

I will update you in due course as news comes through, and in the meantime would like to thank you for your continued support during this difficult period.

Note from Wadhurst Parish Council Clerk: the bottled water at Sparrows Green rec has almost run out, I have requested for SE Water to deliver further ASAP (0904 hours)
