Queens Platinum Jubilee – appeal for a site

Wadhurst Parish Council would like to make an appeal to landowners to come forward  with green fields that might be suitable to create an amenity space for the community in commemoration of the Queen’s platinum Jubilee.

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of service.

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Everyone across the UK is being invited to plant trees from October 2021, when the tree planting season begins, through to the end of the Jubilee year in 2022.

It is proposed that the WPC go one step further and find a suitable nature site to be held in perpetuity for the benefit of residents – not only to be able to plant trees but also to use as a new amenity space for the parish as part of this celebration. The Wadhurst NP household survey showed that residents would very much welcome more amenity green space/pocket parks for informal recreation including dog walking and children’s play within walking distance of the village centre.

Is this something you could assist with? If so, please contact Claudine by email: clerk@wadhurst-pc.gov.uk

Thank you.
