Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service nominations are open for 2023

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service will be accepting nominations for the 2023 awards until 15th September 2022.

The award is an Honour equivalent to an MBE and is a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate exceptional local volunteer groups across the Wealden area – covering a wide, diverse range of activities from theatre groups to food banks, charities, dementia clubs, local radio stations and more.

Wealden District Council recently congratulated local organisations: The People Matter Trust, Age Concern Heathfield and Wealden Talking News which received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service this year.

Pam Doodes, Wealden’s portfolio holder for community leadership, said, “We are proud that three organisations within Wealden have already won this prestigious award recently. We urge residents to nominate charities and/or volunteer groups which, if successful, will help them to gain the recognition they so richly deserve.

“Volunteers provide a wide range of useful and life enhancing services in Wealden, they are hugely appreciated and should be acknowledged.
