Representatives from Wealden District Council attended a Jobs Fair at Eastbourne Town Hall last month hosted by People Matter Trust Ltd – an independent charity established in 1997 to provide quality information, advice and guidance to adults over 18 in their search for suitable employment.
The event was held in partnership with ESTAR – Employability for Supported & Temporary Accommodation & Refugees – and those attending included veterans, refugees, people with learning difficulties and a large number of people who found themselves displaced from employment during the Covid-19 pandemic and unsure about the career and job opportunities now available to them.
Close to 200 jobseekers attended and a number of people showed a keen interest in a career within local government and were surprised at the range of job roles that Wealden District Council offers.
The council has also built some positive partnership connections with People Matter to enable the authority to advertise all of our vacancies through them to support particular clients within their community into work, and this will include Ukrainian families who will soon be part of their community.
Representing Team Wealden at this event were Beth Heritage, economic project development officer, Rob Criddle, benefits officer along with Debbie Rhodes and Laura Morgan from the HR Team.
