We are thrilled to formally announce that Wadhurst Parish Council (WPC) has purchased an area of woodland to save it for our community to continue enjoying. This natural space will be preserved for wildlife and residents alike, including our community of dog walkers who have historically used the woodland.
Essential safety works were carried out on the trees last year, following an arboricultural survey, and a comprehensive woodland management plan has been created to ensure the long-term health and safety of the woodland.
Thanks to grant monies from Wealden District Council, we are about to enhance the woodland with bird and bat boxes as well as some benches. These additions will help support our goals of wildlife conservation and community enjoyment.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the local volunteers who provided invaluable advice on the placement of these amenities. Special thanks go to Charmaine Noel for her expert ecological advice and to our dedicated tree warden, Ian Noel.
We are also excited to announce the formation of a working group, ‘Friends of Tapsells Wood,’ to help manage the woodland.
We welcome volunteers to join us, especially neighbours, wildlife enthusiasts, and members of the dog walking community.
(Please contact the clerk by email at clerk@wadhurst-pc.gov.uk if you would like to put yourself forward.)
These works will be taking place over the next couple of weeks. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you enjoy the improved woodland soon!
Kind regards, Wadhurst Parish Council (WPC)
