At a recent Cabinet meeting of East Sussex County Council, it was agreed to recommend consultation on the decision to close some of the County’s Re-cycling Centres.  The one in Faircrouch Lane, Wadhurst, which is currently open 3 days a week, is earmarked for closure.  Bob Standley is your local County Councillor and is opposed to the closure but would like to hear your views.  Contact details are : or phone : 01892 783579.

10th June 2018. I have only just learned of the threat to close the Wadhurst recycling centre. Would it be right to assume the Localism Act entitles parishioners within the relevant demographic to have sight of the cost benefit analysis behind any such proposal, and also clarification on any proposals that East Sussex/Wealden might be considering for the Faircrouch Lane site ? When this proposal was raised previously I found a certain amount of push-back to gaining clear answers. Happily the part-time offer assuaged the need to push further. It would be helpful to identify (forgive the pun) the financial tipping point that forms the basis for East Sussex’s thinking. For example, is it operating costs or land values that are shaping the thinking. I look forward to any light that can be shed. Thank you.

If you go to the East Sussex County Council website and search for the papers for the Cabinet meeting on 20th June, you will see a full analysis prepared by ESCC officers for Cabinet members, with a recommendation to close Wadhurst Household Recycling Centre. Once you have read through the report and have any thoughts on how we counter their arguments, please share these with either Cllrs Dunnett or Wells (Wadhurst Parish Councillors) BEFORE 20th June because they will be presenting a case against closure to ESCC Cabinet.
