We’re upgrading our reservoir at Bewl
I wanted to provide you with an additional update about our £30 million project to upgrade our reservoir at Bewl.
What happens next?
We have now started to excavate a section of the dam wall, in preparation for the installation of three new siphons.
While working on the dam, we must ensure the water level in the reservoir is maintained at a constant level. To complete this phase of the project sooner and allow the reservoir to refill over the winter, we will be working at weekends from 21st September until Christmas.
This should mean that our work on the dam wall is completed by the middle of December, ready for the siphons to be lifted into place in January next year.
How will this affect me?
Our weekend working hours will be from 7am – 3pm on Saturdays and from 7am – 1pm on Sundays.
Work to be carried out at weekends includes completion of our work on the dam, concrete remedial works, wooden shutter installation and steelwork. We don’t expect this work to be particularly disruptive, with lorry movements kept to a minimum.
Reservoir users and walkers/cyclists will continue to have access to the water and the footpath near to our working area.
