Safer Wealden Partnership Fund
Deadline: Ongoing
Funding for community-led interventions is available from the Safer Wealden Partnership. The Safer Wealden Partnership is a Community Safety Partnership and is primarily focused on helping communities to develop solutions that help tackle crime, fear of crime, and anti-social behaviours.
Bids for this money must clearly demonstrate how the project, or intervention, meets one or more of the following six Safer Wealden Partnership priorities for the 2023/24 year.
These priorities are:
- Working to ensure local people feel safe and secure and reducing the fear of crime.
- Working together to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on Wealden’s roads and to improve road safety awareness.
- Working to protect and divert young people away from crime and anti-social behaviour.
- To work in partnership to reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour.
- Working to reduce acquisitive crime
- Working with partners to understand the impact of serious violence in the district and begin work to reduce it.
An application form must be filled to be considered for funding. Bids of over £1500 will go to the finance subcommittee for further scrutiny after being approved at the joint action group meeting.

Safer in Sussex Community Fund

The Police & Crime Commissioner has set aside some funding for local community groups that help reduce or prevent crime in Sussex. The Safer in Sussex Community Fund (SiSCF) has supported many such projects over the past few years, to the benefit of local people and neighbourhoods. The fund provides financial support (grant awards up to £5,000) to local organisations and projects that aim to reduce crime and improve community safety. Applications for SiSCF will be accepted three times a year.

Safe Space Sussex Funding Network (deadline approaching)
Deadline: Monday 1st May
The Safe Space Sussex Funding Network has been specifically designed to ensure the services the Commissioner commissions for victims and witnesses of crime are the best they can be as promised in the Police & Crime Plan.
Providers who wish to apply for funding for victim/witness support services will need to sign up to the funding network which will act as an approved providers list.
Applications submitted should be for one off grants commencing 1st June 2023 to 31st March 2024.
The maximum individual bid amount is set at £20,000.00

Wealden Community Lottery
Ticket sales for Wealden’s first Community Lottery is now live!
The Wealden Community Lottery offers an additional method of raising funds for local organisations that give so much to the community. Organisations who deliver activities and services for the Wealden Community can sign up to the Wealden Community Lottery.
A generous 50% of the ticket proceeds from the Wealden lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations, sports clubs, parish councils, residents associations and other not-for-profit groups with the remainder being put towards a central fund, prizes, operating costs and VAT. Tickets will cost £1.
So far we have already sold 900 tickets in 13 days and currently have 47 organisations raising money through the local lottery. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to raise funds.

Opportunity to raise funds for your local organisation with Wealden Community Lottery

Crowdfunder
Crowdfunder gives local organisations the opportunity to raise money and potentially match fund against external funding pots in just 6 weeks. Pots to match fund against through Crowdfunder currently includes:
- Aviva Community Fund – Supporting projects that boost the resilience of communities (Max £50,000).
- Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation – Get up to £5,000 for your sustainable community based project.
- Sport England: Active Together – Funding for keeping communities physically active (max £10,000).
- Sport England: Places & Spaces – Up to £10,000 to improve your Place or Space and keep your community physically active.
- Crowdfund East Sussex – East Sussex County Council’s most recent campaign is supporting six projects. They are crowdfunding to make a variety of positive change in East Sussex. These projects need your help, so have a look at what they are aiming to achieve, donate, and share to show your support to these great projects!
- Save Our Wild Isles Community Fund – Up to £5,000 to support projects to protect and restore nature in their communities. Whether you’re working together to plant community gardens, support local wildlife or anything else you do to help nature near you, they will give you £2 for every £1 you raise, to help your project reach its fundraising target quicker.

£10m Energy and Climate Programme from National Lottery Community Fund
Stage 1 applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
As part of its wider commitment to supporting climate action, National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) is delivering a new grant scheme which focuses on community energy projects across the UK.
There is a total funding pot of £10 million, which includes £1.5 million for a Learning Network. More information on this is expected in April 2023.
The Fund offers grants of £500,000 to £1.5 million over two to five years for place-based partnerships, UK-wide partnerships or single voluntary and community organisations.
Projects are required to do at least one of the following:
- Encourage people and communities to use energy in an environmentally friendly way.
- Bring communities together so that they can explore ways to promote energy efficiency.
- Enable communities to understand and engage with opportunities for clean energy generation, which do not use fossil fuels.
Grants can be used on project costs, revenue costs and some capital costs. It is expected that most funding will be for revenue.

New ‘Food hubs’ grant funding available for Community Fridges
Deadline: Applications close Wednesday 31st May
Community Fridges bring people together around good food. Across the UK they are reducing social isolation, increasing access to skills, sharing knowledge and repurposing fresh (surplus) food.
Hubbub know that many groups want to do more, and so in partnership with Starbucks we’re offering £7,000 (per group) in funding for up to 50 Community Fridges to develop additional food initiatives.
These additional activities could be skills workshops, growing initiatives, gardening schemes or cooking (to name a few)! So, if you’re already running an open Community Fridge feel free to apply.

Magic Little Grants
Applications will be accepted from 1 March to 31 Oct 2023
Smaller charities and community groups across Great Britain can apply for one-off £500 grants.
The funding is for projects that fall within one of the following themes:
Providing support to improve mental health.
Enabling participation in physical activity.
Enabling participation in the arts.
Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty.
Supporting marginalised groups and tackling inequality.
Improving biodiversity and responding to the climate emergency.
Improving green spaces and increasing access to the outdoors.
Funding can be used to launch new projects, support existing ones, or cover core costs associated with ongoing work. Successful applicants can expect to hear the outcome within six weeks.
Sports England – Small Grants Programme
The closing date for applications to the programme is 30 June.
Small Grants Programme returns with awards of between £300 – £15,000.
Our Small Grants Programme can now give 50% larger awards to help communities get active after the maximum grant amount was increased to £15,000 for 2023 (was previously £10,000)
The Small Grants Programme was put on hold for a year in 2022 as we launched the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Activity Fund, which was designed to bring communities together through activity.
We believe that communities that work together and share resources provide a stronger and more sustainable impact.
So, the programme will also prioritise projects that focus on environmental sustainability, can demonstrate how they connect with their communities, provide the biggest possible impact to those who need it most and are working with people living in areas of disadvantage.
Applications can be made for awards of between £300 and £15,000, with multiple applications permitted but organisations can only have awards totalling £15,000 or less in any 12-month period.
Only not-for-profit organisations are eligible for the programme and applications should explain the need for the project as well as how end users have been involved in its development.

Our grants programme is made up of a range of funds which help to address disadvantage and deprivation and build resilience in Sussex communities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available. We are particularly keen to support grassroots community groups and small-to-medium sized voluntary organisations. Please note our general funds cannot support small contributions to large capital appeals or campaigns. General round grants are available to cover a range of core and project costs including support for work planned in response to the pandemic.

Nationwide Building Society Community Grants
Current Status: Future. The 2023 round will open on 25 April 2023 and close on 26 May (1pm).
Grants are available to smaller charities and other charitable organisations for projects that tackle a housing problem in local communities in eligible parts of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The funding is for local housing projects that will strengthen local communities to support the most vulnerable by:
- Preventing people from losing their home.
- Helping people into a home.
- Supporting people to thrive within the home environment.

SGN Safe and Warm Fund
The SGN Safe and Warm funding opportunity is for small grassroots organisations who already have good relationships with their communities &/or clients, and are keen to provide extra support with personalised energy advice and advice on carbon monoxide safety.
- We can support you to find relevant training if this is a new area of work for you, and we will provide up to date information on the type of energy bill support available for households, as well as running webinars for awarded groups on providing energy advice.
- Groups can apply for up to £25,000 and must operate within the SGN area. Projects must complete by December 2023.
- There is no fixed deadline for this funding opportunity, but we encourage you to apply soon before funds run out.

Tesco’s Community Grants
Deadline: Mid May
Tesco Community Grants is open to charities and community organisations to apply for a grant of up to £1,500. Every three months, three local good causes are selected to be in the blue token customer vote in Tesco stores throughout the UK.
Grants will be awarded to schools, voluntary or community organisations (including registered charities/companies), health bodies (e.g. Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), NHS Hospital Trust, Foundation Trust), Parish/Town Councils, local authorities and social housing providers.
The next Tesco Community Grants July/August/September voting round will especially focus on food related projects in schools.
To qualify please apply for a food related project eg. cooking or food related clubs, or other themed activities offering food as part of their delivery, holiday hunger and fit and fed programmes, allotments and horticultural projects encouraging growing food etc.

Veolia Environmental Trust

Description: Grants for constituted, not-for-profit organisations and local authorities for projects that make improvements to community facilities and the natural environment that are located near a qualifying Veolia site in England.

Objectives of Fund
The Trust currently offers three grant schemes:
- Community Grants are for constituted, not-for-profit organisations and local authorities to create or improve community buildings or outside spaces for the benefit of the community.
- Environmental Improvement Grants are for Environmental Bodies that are enrolled with ENTRUST, the regulator of The Landfill Communities Fund, and are a registered charity. Grants are available to enable landscape scale improvement projects such as habitat creation/management, and/or species protection.
- Habitat and Biodiversity Grants are for constituted, not-for-profit organisations that are enrolled with ENTRUST to support structural improvements to a single habitat, such as a waterway, woodland, or nature reserve.

The National Lottery’s annual awards programme is now accepting nominations across the following categories:

- Young Hero (under 25s)
Individuals and small groups of people across the UK that work or act for a National Lottery funded organisation or have received National Lottery funding can be nominated for an award.
The winner from each award category will receive a £5,000 prize along with their National Lottery Awards trophy.
