Explore the latest collection of Wealden walks

Wealden Walks are a collection of self-guided walks available throughout the district. They have recently been tried, tested and improved to help explorers of every age discover Wealden’s hidden gems.

The new set of walks will launch on Saturday 11 September. View and download a description, including the historical significance of the walk, route details and a map from the Healthy Wealden website www.healthywealden.co.uk/walks.

“I am immensely proud we are able to support our residents and visitors to stay active and explore our beautiful district,” said Cllr Philip Lunn, the community and public health portfolio holder. “Thank you to the volunteers who have walked the routes in their spare time. This has helped to check their suitability and add to the excellent information available on the website.”

The walks are launching to coincide with and celebrate the start of the High Weald Walking Festival www.highwealdwalks.org

Originally developed as Wealden District Council’s millennium commemoration, the initial Wealden Walk started as a 100-mile walk around the district. In the years that followed, this turned into a series of individual walks that cover every parish area within Wealden at least once. Each walk is designed to look back at the history of the area over the preceding 1000 years.

To celebrate the launch of the new Wealden Walks look out for details of a fun competition on the Healthy Wealden Facebook page @HealthyWealden.  The lucky winner will win an English Heritage day pass to enjoy with the family.
