£150 energy rebate to commence in Wealden this week
Eligible residents living in Wealden will start to receive the £150 energy rebate this week.
With 44,000 households living in bands A-D, Wealden District Council have been working hard over the last few months to ensure payments are to be made to eligible residents only.
There are around 30,348 Direct Debit payers who will be processed first, followed by 10,935 who will be paid manually over the coming weeks.
Councillor Neil Waller, Wealden’s portfolio holder for finance and benefits said: “The rebate comes at a time when energy prices and the cost of living are rising. With inflation currently at 9% I am hopeful that this rebate will help families and residents within Wealden.
“I would like to make residents aware that those who pay by Direct Debit will automatically receive the rebate. Council officers will be sending a letter to non-Direct Debit paying residents confirming how they can obtain the rebate.
“I would like to thank council officers for their efforts in getting these payments in place.”
